In high-profile or sensitive legal matters, it works in close coordination with the Office of the Attorney General for Pakistan, who is the principal legal adviser to the Government.
As the chief legal adviser to the Federal Government, the Attorney General of Pakistan collaborates closely with the Law & Justice Division on high-stakes and constitutionally significant issues. The Division facilitates consultations and legal opinions from the Attorney General, especially in cases that involve national interest, constitutional interpretation, or international law.
The Law & Justice Division also exercises administrative oversight over two major autonomous organizations: the Pakistan Law Commission and the Council of Islamic Ideology, both of which play a strategic role in legal reform and religious compliance of laws, respectively. In addition, the Division supervises a network of subordinate courts and legal offices across the country, including the Federal Shariat Court, Special Courts, Tribunals, and other judicial or quasi-judicial bodies that function under the federal domain.
